Ed Sheeran may be an accomplished musician able to play a number of instruments, but he says he regrets not keeping up the piano skills he had as a child.

As part of an interview with charity Hope and Homes for Children, Sheeran and other artists, including Elton John and Paul Weller talked about the records that meant the most to them in their childhood.

Sheeran chose Van Morrison and the Chieftain’s ‘Carrikfergus’, a song he used to listen to in the back of his parents’ car.

Elton John chose Doris Day’s ‘The Deadwood Stage’ and Paul Weller picked ‘Waterloo Sunset’ by The Kinks.

The musicians all spoke about how important music is in a child’s life as part of Hope and Homes for Children’s ‘End the Silence’ campaign, which helps to get children out of orphanages in the United Kingdom and worldwide.

The charity hope the appeal will fund the first orphanage closure for children with disabilities in Rwanda, as well as support Uganda in taking the first steps to becoming orphanage-free.

They’re hoping to raise £1.5 million ($1.9 million) in donations before Christmas.
