Calum Courtney is a 10-year-old singer from Essex who is no stranger to public attention.

In December 2017, he stunned Asda shoppers with his extraordinary voice as he performed Smokey Robinson’s classic “Who’s Lovin’ You”.

A video clip of him singing has been viewed an extraordinary 2 million times on YouTube. The performance may have even won Calum, who has a mild form of autism, a record deal with a producer wanting to work with him on a charity single in 2018. Calum's mum has created a YouTube channel to showcase his singing talents

Since the performance went viral, his proud mum Tupney Courtney has launched a YouTube channel to showcase his talents. When the Smokey Robinson video took the internet by storm she said: “He loves how it feels and hearing the sound of his voice when he sings.

“He is always singing around the house and performing in public has never been a problem. The more people, the better for Calum when he is performing.

Tupney revealed that the video of Calum’s performance in Basildon, Essex, was only meant to be viewed by the lad’s dad, but it quickly went viral after her sister posted it online.

She added: “Calum has high functioning autism. For Calum this means blurred social boundaries, struggles with school and difficulties with friendships, but also that enables him to have no fear to get up and belt out a song.

“We describe his autism to him as a superpower, it may take a little from other areas of life but it’s given him the superpower of music.”

The talented schoolboy has previously performed with Emile Sandé and JP Cooper at the NSPCC Winter Charity Ball in aid of the National Autistic Society.
