Looks like the Grammys didn’t avoid a lip-reading ~scandal~ this year after all—despite celebs making efforts to keep their conversations at a minimum and Taylor Swift straight-up hiding her face behind a fan whenever she talked to anyone.
And while Taylor’s private chats with friends have escaped analysis this time, Ed Sheeran’s reaction to Tay announcing her new album on stage is being analyzed by fans—some of whom think that he said it was “bullshit.”
Though, honestly if you watch this video it looks like there’s just as big of a chance that he said saying “brilliant” followed by “shall we go have a beer.” But! According to lip-reader @ninacelested on TikTok, Ed actually said, “Well done.” followed by “She already told everybody.”
Okay, this positive vibe makes a lot more sense than Ed saying anything remotely negative about Taylor, who is a longtime friend and collaborator.
As Us Weekly notes, last year, Ed told Zane Lowe, “I have long, long, long conversations with Taylor about stuff just because I feel like she’s one of the only people that actually truly understands where I’m at. I had 1 hour 20 conversation with her yesterday and we were just, everything that was on our minds, we talked about. I mean, that in itself is kind of therapy as well, because you’re actually talking to someone that genuinely gets it.”
Also, the pair were fully seen bonding throughout the rest of the night, so no drama to be found here!
