Some people are there to make special times even more special than it already is. Like these students from The Music Depot in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, who staged a flash-mob-like performance to sing “Going to the Chapel” at St. John’s Church for Shannon and Rick’s wedding.

The tradition of having singers or musicians perform at weddings has a long history that dates back to ancient times. In ancient Greece, wedding celebrations were accompanied by music and dance performances. The bride and groom would be serenaded with songs and musical instruments, including lyres and flutes. In medieval Europe, troubadours and minstrels would perform at weddings, singing songs and reciting poetry in honor of the newlyweds.

This tradition continues today: in many Jewish weddings, for example, the bride and groom are led in a dance called the Hora, while in traditional Indian weddings, there are often elaborate music and dance performances, including the popular dance form, Bollywood. And Christian weddings typically have multiple hymns throughout the ceremony.
