There are few songs as iconic in America as “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and few modern singers as widely loved as Josh Groban. Put them together and you have pure magic on a scale we don’t witness that often.

41-year-old Groban is one of the most popular singers today. Born in Los Angeles, California, he almost accidentally got into recording when he was “noticed” as a stand-in singer at rehearsals for well-known artists. Rosie O’Donnell saw him at one rehearsal and asked him to sing on her show, which led to an appearance on the popular TV show Ally McBeal, and the rest is history.

“Over the Rainbow” is more than twice as old as Groban, first sung by superstar Judy Garland in the 1939 movie classic The Wizard of Oz. It has since been covered by innumerable artists large and small and is possibly the best known American movie song of all times.

These two came together for a live performance in May of 2020 called “Stages Live.” This song is perfect for Groban’s pure, powerful voice and, backed by a full symphony orchestra, has rarely sounded this good.

And the live audience was treated to a real treat: Groban sang all the verses, even the one that doesn’t appear in the movie! This is amazing. Watch the video below and please leave us a Facebook comment to let us know what you thought!
