Well, this is exactly what happened in 2014. In this popular video by the Azerbaijan Student Network, a boy approaches three street musicians playing a tar, a traditional instrument from Azerbaijan, and starts to play the Mozart favourite “Rondo alla Turca.”

About Azerbaijan Student Network

“ASN is a platform that aims at bringing together Azerbaijani youth, students, doctoral candidates, and young professionals living in Europe and sharing a common interest in Azerbaijan. The founding principle of our association is established in its name, which is “network, a body without hierarchy, grounded mainly on the capacity of its members.”

The performance very quickly starts picking up pace as the four players are joined gradually by others from the very swiftly growing crowd. First a violinist, then two bass players and a clarinet player turn up, before being joined by a plethora of other musicians.

The musicians start to join in with the ongoing symphony, which has now amassed an impressive crowd of onlookers and admirers. All of a sudden, Jiri Korynta, a conductor, enters the fray just in time to guide the drum section into play.

The group plays like a well-oiled machine in the sunny streets of the Czech capital, entertaining onlookers in a way they surely didn’t expect while out on their afternoon stroll. The video has drawn in millions of views online, and it’s not hard to see why.
