The Golden Buzzer was a new feature introduced in Season 8, and Simon’s decision to use it demonstrated the impact of their performance.

Devries and Lenehan, who make up Bars and Melody, first met on Facebook. They then met in real life and formed their duo. For their audition, they performed a song based on Twista and Faith Evans’ “Hope,” with Devries replacing the original verses with ones protesting against bullying. Their performance not only showcased their talent but also delivered a powerful message.
