As fans know, The Kelly Clarkson Show has a much-loved segment called “Kellyoke” where Kelly covers some of her favorite songs. Because Ben is a decorated singer just like Kelly, the two performed a duet for the segment during Season 1.
Kelly Clarkson Shares “Special” Ben Platt Memory With Audience
When Kelly Clarkson opened the recent episode, she shared a video of their duet, Make You Feel My Love, which was originally written and recorded by Bob Dylan in 1997.
“We wanna throw it back to one of the first duets I ever did on this show, in Season 1, I believe. It features our lead guest today,” Kelly said ahead of the clip. “It was such a special performance for me.”
In the video, the two emotionally sing the classic hit and showcase their range and talent as they gaze into each other’s eyes. Ben Platt and Kelly Clarkson unsurprisingly made the complicated duet look easy, and it’s no wonder why it remains one of Kelly’s favorites.
“She is the perfect duet partner,” a fan wrote under a video on YouTube. “She always, always, always lets her partner shine; She has such an innate ability (aka hard work) to fill the sonic space with melodic modulation and beautiful grace notes.”
“I love Kelly, she’s amazing. Ben Platt…I mean, there’s a sensitivity to the way he sings it’s just amazing,” another added.
