A two-photo collage. The first shows Simon Cowell laughing as he covers his face and looks away from the person auditioning for “AGT.” The second photo shows a man bowing as he tips his hat. Playing cards are falling from the hat and onto the floor.

Some “America’s Got Talent” auditions are unforgettable because the performers are able to pull off breathtaking feats. Then there are those that stay with us because… well… they’re pretty darn weird. That’s the case with Josh Alfred’s audition. Or should we say all three of his auditions.

The 33-year-old from Nigeria immediately had everyone confused when he shared that his talent was speed reading. If anyone thought that there was a chance that this genuinely impressive skill could be turned into a visual performance, they were quickly proven wrong. To “prove” he read three books in under a minute, he hurriedly “read” them out loud. To say the audience and judges weren’t impressed would be an understatement.

Rather than taking the rejection to heart, Josh chose to take the phrase “if at first you don’t succeed, try again” at heart, returning to the stage the same day. This time, dressed differently and with a new skill: rapping quickly. When this performance didn’t pan out either, he came back for a third time with magic tricks.

Most of the judges were over Josh, but Simon Cowell and the audience had grown to love him and his actual talent: being a comedian. But was it enough to get him through to the next round?

Watch Josh and his many talents in the video below.
