This week on “The Voice,” Kaylee Shimizu took on the Playoffs. This was her last chance to prove why she should make it to the Live Shows. Many fans have said that this season one of the best in terms of the talent on the show, and I’d have to agree. It’s no wonder, then, that Kaylee brought her all to the Playoffs with a stunning performance of “You Put a Move On My Heart” by Quincy Jones.
Kaylee’s original audition blew the Coaches away, prompting all four of them to turn their chairs around for her. At only 17 years old, she’s proven to be an insanely talented vocalist. This is something she continues to prove with every performance she gives. One of her stand-out performances includes her duet of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Traitor” — and her latest performance is no different.
“It really is phenomenal that you are the age that you are, and your voice has this much control and depth and range,” John Legend, her Coach said. “Your low voice is really gorgeous. I love the warmth in it. The fact that you can do that and then go to those notes in the stratosphere that almost no one on the planet can hit, you’re ready for this. You are ready to be a big star. You’re so special Kaylee.”
Unfortunately, Kaylee is not moving forward to the Live Shows. But like Legend said, she’s already a big star — I’m certain this is not the last we’ll hear from this young star!
“My journey on the voice has been nothing but amazing and a HUGE blessing in my life,” Kaylee says. “The Voice has ended, this is not the end but the beginning of something great! Looking forward to the future and what God has planned for me.”
