If you own an instrument, you know the upkeep requires more than just ensuring it doesn’t get dust or nicks all over it. You also have to keep it in tune, which is no easy feat since each type works differently.

The owners of Hudson Manor, a bed and breakfast in New York, have a piano on their property that they diligently maintain. For its most recent tune-up, they called in an expert to ensure the piano was in tip-top shape, and he surpassed their expectations in the most amazing way.

That’s because the professional they hired was none other than famous pianist Ed Clute! The blind musician has been playing since he was 3 years old and spent the majority of his formal education studying music and composition.

Since then, he has played in multiple jazz bands and worked with some of the best musicians in the country. Despite his many years in the spotlight, Ed is showing no signs of slowing down. He often impresses audiences at venues across New York state and runs his own tuning business, which is how he connected with Hudson Manor.

After finishing the job he’d been brought over to do, Ed decided to give guests and staff some bonus entertainment. He hopped on the bench, and without so much as a warm-up, began playing “Sweet Georgia Brown” from memory.

Naturally, the bed and breakfast employees recorded Ed’s masterful piece and shared it on their Facebook page. The video is two minutes of beauty! Ed is so talented he makes nailing the quick tune look as easy as breathing!

What an inspiring performance! Ed is a great reminder that with enough passion and motivation, we can do whatever we set our minds to. We’re so glad he chose to pursue music all those years ago.
