Creedence Clearwater Revival has some of the biggest songs in rock music, and one of them became a lot bigger when 700 guitarists jammed on it at a Romanian festival. The 700 musicians, who hail from over 30 cities, played “Have You Ever Seen the Rain” at the Sibiu Guitar Meeting, creating a memorable, feel-good jam.

There was a band onstage providing vocals and the rhythm section at the event, while a horde of audience members rocked out on acoustic guitars in front of them. Many Creedence Clearwater Revival songs are so universal that they seem tailor-made for a mass singalong and jam like this. Check out the video below, which has attracted 3.8 million views on YouTube.

The Sibiu Guitar Meeting was hosted at the beautiful open-air Astra Museum from September 15 to 17, 2023. Curators stated that the event is designed to “promote the values of folk-rock culture among the younger generation, starting from guitar music and the guitar as a symbol of this culture.” Judging by the number of fresh young faces in the audience, they were certainly achieving that.

Fans had plenty of praise for the performance, adding comments such as “Music unites people, no matter if they are young or old and no matter what nationality you are” and “I absolutely love these gatherings of musicians in a single place making music to reach the heavens! What a feeling of togetherness and happiness it gives.” Another rock classic, Steppenwolf’s “Born to Be Wild,” was played by 1,000 musicians in France, which was featured in a popular video by Rockin’1000 earlier this year.

“Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” is a certified Creedence Clearwater Revival classic. The 1971 single, taken from the group’s sixth album Pendulum, was an international hit and is certified three times Platinum in the US. The mid-tempo rocker has continued to be popular in the years since, and is currently the band’s most played song on Spotify, with 1.4 billion streams clocked.
