There is little to no doubt that Glen Campbell was one of the world’s greatest musicians. Massively influential in the American country music scene and also in music in general, he was a dedicated musician through and through who entertained the world for over 50 years. Sadly, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in late 2010, which entirely changed his career, but he still managed to play his guitar right up until his last days. Despite his struggles, music was always at the core of Glen Campbell.

With an estimated net worth of $50 million, he built himself an empire dedicated to entertainment and music, with country music right at the forefront. He also managed to release music that both healed broken hearts and created enough energy to shake a full house. In the wake of his passing, his music and his works have been celebrated all over the world; a piece on Inside Edition briefly covered his life and success while also focusing on his struggle with Alzheimer’s. When it comes to accolades, Glen Campbell has them all. He was not just an American country singer; he was also an actor and the host of The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour on CBS from 1969 until 1972. This show was part comedy show and part musical variety show, and it ran for a total of 91 episodes. It developed a strong following and became a part of his fanbase’s appreciation for the late great artist.

Filmography aside, Glen Campbell was known by most as a down-to-earth, truly American country singer. He was also an incredibly busy man, recording and releasing 60 studio albums and six live albums over the course of his career, from 1962 to 2017. This earned him the respect and adoration of scores of fans worldwide, in addition to creating some of country music’s greatest hits. Among them is “Rhinestone Cowboy,”  which is arguably Campbell’s most popular song.

His main bout on television wasn’t with The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour, though. He was also an established movie actor and appeared in a total of 11 movies or shows between 1965 and 1997. Most notably, he was in Uphill All the Way, a comedy Western that also starred Roy Clark, Mel Tillis, and Burl Ives. While it may not have been the blockbuster they had hoped for, it developed a small, but dedicated, cult following among Western movie fanbases.

Glen Campbell passed away on August 8th, 2017, after living a very full life and enjoying an astoundingly successful career. Despite his troubles, he created joyful entertainment for the masses for well over four decades and is continuously referred to as both an inspiration and an aid by many. With a wealth of celebrities also offering tributes to his passing, it is safe to say that he will go down in history as one of the world’s most successful artists.
