Mirko and Valerio, both 12-year-old violinists, have been sharing videos of their violin performances, featuring covers of popular songs, to uplift spirits during the COVID-19 lockdown in Italy.

In March, the talented duo recorded a rendition of Coldplay’s 2008 hit single “Viva La Vida.” Their video rapidly gained viral status, reaching millions of viewers who appreciated both the performance and its positive message. Mirko and Valerio were among the pioneering Italian musicians who initiated online performances during the lockdown. Adding to their recent online success, Coldplay’s official Facebook page shared their video, expressing high praise for their cover.

Coldplay shared their YouTube video, saying:
‘Thank you, guys??? You rock! ♥️?? love c, g, w, j, and p’.

All the band members added their initials to the post: Chris Martin, Guy Berryman, Jonny Buckland, Will Champion, and Phil Harvey. Acknowledgment of a good cover doesn’t get much better than that!

In response to the compliment given to Mirko and Valerio, the two young violinists replied,
“We thank Coldplay for sharing our video; you have given us immense joy.”

As the world watches Italy fight a battle against an out-of-control pandemic, people are grateful for the entertainment these musical posts provide during tough times. This was expressed multiple times throughout the video’s comments section and has become a general theme across other viral quarantine music videos.

The boys say,
“We’re keeping each other company with Coldplay’s ‘Viva la Vida’”.

Mirko and Valerio continue to make their inspirational music videos and upload them to their social media pages. After the success of their first video, their story is being covered and shared on news websites and music aggregators. Hopefully, Italy’s situation will change for the better soon regarding the coronavirus, but praise for these two young men who are shining a little bit of light during an uncertain time.
