When classical music is played and sung with expertise, it is thrilling to hear. Excellence happened when Jonathan Antoine joined forces with the Limak philharmonic orchestra to perform ‘Granada’ in front of a historic stone temple.
The group performs in Antalya in an open-air theater. Set in one of the most beautiful amphitheaters in the world, the orchestra wears all black as Jonathan wears an open-collar white dress shirt with black suspenders and pants.
The song ‘Granada’ was written in 1932 by Mexican composer Agustin Lara. The lyrics are about the Spanish city of Granada, and the tune has become a standard in classical music repertoire.
Jonathan Antoine is an English classically-trained tenor. He appeared on the 6th season of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ in 2012. He competed as a fantastic duo known as ‘Jonathan and Charlotte.’
Jonathan released solo albums after the ‘BGT’ that showcased his incredible vocal skills. In 2014 he released ‘Tenore,’ followed by 2016’s ‘Believe.’ In 2020 Jonathan released his third album ‘Going the Distance.’
‘Granada’ is one of the most popular songs for tenor singers to perform. Over the years, it has been sung by Placido Domingo, Mario Lanza, Jose Carreras, and even Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra.
The beautiful melody and the picturesque setting make this performance a joy to watch. Jonathan and the orchestra create a powerful rendition of the timeless song with their talent on full display under the outdoor lights in front of a historic stone temple.
