When the all-women singing group made it to the finals on BGT, they chose another Vera Lynn classic, “White Cliffs of Dover,” but they had a surprise up their sleeves, and the entire audience was on their feet when it was unveiled.
Red-tinged clouds serve as a poignant backdrop as the women stand in a V, mimicking the formation of warplanes, and begin singing. Halfway through the song, the audience is awash with flickering lights that sway back and forth as the D-Day Darling’s founder, Katie Ashby, leads the group through to the end of the song.
There’ll be bluebirds over
The white cliffs of Dover
Tomorrow
Just you wait and see
That’s when numerous WWII veterans march onto the stage.
