Evie Clair, the Florence 13-year-old who dazzled audiences for months on “America’s Got Talent” didn’t make the top five during Wednesday’s live finale. The eventual winner was Darci Lynne, a 12-year-old ventriloquist.

Evie Clair singer broke into the top 10 as a finalist after her father’s death this month. She spoke of her devotion to and adoration of her father on the show and dedicated several performances to him as he battled colon cancer.

During Wednesday night’s show, host Tyra Banks announced the teen was cut along with four others. Evie Clair sang with British “X-Factor” winner James Arthur to “Okay Day.”

Evie Clair’s father, Amos Abplanalp, died Sept. 7, two days after his daughter earned enough viewer votes to participate in the two-part final round along with nine other acts. Evie Clair was offered the chance to return next year but opted to complete her journey this season.

“My dad was one of the bravest people I knew. He always taught us to follow our dreams,” she said. “My dad taught me after I started something to always finish it. That’s why I’m fighting ’til the end just like he did.”

The finalists competed for the top prize of $1 million and a Las Vegas residency. Fans voted through social media, phone messages, NBC’s website and the “America’s Got Talent” app prior to the show.
