Andrea Bocelli And Daughter Perform “ich liebe dich”

We’ve seen Andrea Bocelli performing on the biggest of stages. We’ve also seen him duetting with Superstars and his own family members, including his daughter. However, it was a very special moment for the Tenor singer when his daughter joined him to accompany him on the piano.

In this heartwarming video, the father and daughter duo perform a song by Beethoven called “ich liebe dich” which translates to “Tender Love”. Andrea explains at the beginning of the video that through the time they spent at home during 2020, they utilised this time well to practice music together.

As Andrea starting singing the opening line to Karl Friedrich Wilhelm Herrosee’s poem, his daughter began to play the piano like the young professional she is.

The video was first aired on the 3rd of May 2020 on Andrea Bocelli’s official YouTube channel. “Little Virginia has been working hard over the past few weeks to honour her obligations,” he captioned the video.

“We now present our first duet, a jewel created long ago but which remains wonderfully current, a lied which speaks of love with an infinite tenderness.”

After this video was recorded they would go on to sing Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah together, however, this is the first time Andrea’s daughter has accompanied her father using an instrument.

Hopefully, this will be the first of many videos we see from the talented family as Virginia continues to progress with her music career and following in her father’s footsteps.

Andrea Bocelli had quite the 2020 last year despite all the difficulties music artists have faced performing. The Italian tenor performed a beautiful live-streamed Easter Sunday concert from Milan’s cathedral called Music For Hope, while also releasing his brand new album Believe. Meanwhile, at home his eight-year-old daughter Virginia Bocelli has been practising the piano.

After impressively playing Beethoven’s Ich Liebe Dich on the piano, her father Andrea decided to join in on vocals in their first duet together.

He said in a statement: “My friends, this slightly paradoxical situation is forcing us to reinvent ourselves and to get a bit creative.

“As I have always done naturally, and now more than ever, I’m trying to get everyone involved in the family, even little Virginia who recently started piano lessons.

“She made great progress and now she’s going to play something with her dad: Ich liebe dich by Ludwig Van Beethoven.”

Andrea added: “It’s a way to express our love for you all and share a moment of optimism, hope and positivity.”

The father and daughter later shared a full version in May last year, proving that their musical talent really does run in the family.

The 62-year-old singer commented: “Every promise is a debt. A special debt, in this case, one which is a joy to share.

“Little Virginia has been working hard over the past few weeks to honour her obligations.”

Andrea then went on to discuss the subject of his first duet with his daughter.

He wrote: “We now present our first duet, a jewel created long ago but which remains wonderfully current, a lied which speaks of love with an infinite tenderness.

“The piece is entitled Ich Liebe Dich and it is an affectionate mantra that says: ‘I love you, as you love me, in the morning and the evening…’

“It talks of sharing griefs, of consoling melancholy, and finally of God, invoking him to protect and bless.”

Asked if Virginia has singing lessons at home, Andrea replied: “She didn’t take any singing lessons, no. Although, she grew up on a diet of bread and music.
