In a heart-wrenching tale of strength and a mother’s enduring love, singer-songwriter Cat Janice was determined that her last musical creation would help her son once she wasn’t around.

In a story reported by PEOPLE, a mother from Washington DC named Cat Janice was diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare maligant tumor, in early 2022. Cat faced the relentless waves of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. Against the odds, she was declared cancer-free on July 22, 2022. During her battle, Cat continued to share her gift of music, posting her songs on social media where she has a loving fanbase.

However, the cruel hand of fate dealt another blow in June 2023, when Cat revealed that the cancer had returned, this time in her lungs.

As January 2024 came around, Cat returned to social media to share the heartbreaking news that her battle with cancer was nearing its end. On January 10, she entered hospice after experiencing difficulties breathing in the ICU, according to PEOPLE. Focused on leaving a lasting legacy for her seven-year-old son, Loren, Cat transferred all her songs to his name, ensuring that any proceeds would support his future.

“My last joy would be if you pre-saved my song and streamed it because all proceeds go straight to my 7-year-old boy I’m leaving behind.”

With unwavering spirit, Cat planned to release one final track, “Dance You Outta My Head,” asking her followers to pre-save and stream the song for her son.

“Everyone knows that I’ve been battling cancer for a while and I wanted to put this song out, and just go stream it. I hope you like it. I don’t know if I’m going to be around even when the song comes out, so let’s just put it out. And I did,” she says.

To her surprise, on January 23, she woke up in the middle of the night only to discover that her song had charted on iTunes.

In the end, Cat Janice has encountered numerous challenges on her journey. Despite grappling with a heartbreaking situation, the success of her song serves as a source of support for her son, bringing a ray of hope to an otherwise dim scenario.
