Reba Was Discovered While Singing The National Anthem At The National Finals Rodeo

Singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl is a monumental moment for Reba. Not only is it the most-watched American television broadcast of the year, but it symbolizes her decades-long career coming full circle.

In 1974, Reba was one year into college when she had the opportunity to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City. Reba says it was her father that encouraged her to take the gig. Country artist Red Steagall, who was also performing at the event, was so impressed by her version of the anthem that he called upon his connections in Nashville and helped Reba land her first recording contract.

Now, 50 years later, Reba was encouraged by her boyfriend and football fan Rex Linn to take the gig at the Super Bowl. Her performance is guaranteed to be a memorable moment and a special celebration of where she began.
