“Right when you get it all perfect, she takes the brush and starts doing it herself. I just started using our oil because I needed to slick [her hair] back and make it stay. I just use a drop of it, but then she brushes it and likes to mess it all up.”

During one trip to meet his namesake bilby at the Sydney Zoo, his dad joked “I suspect his first word might be ‘bilby’ — only because ‘koala’ is harder to say.”

His mom also observed he was a natural with the animals—as he just couldn’t get enough.

“He’s trying to grab his ear,” Kate laughed. “If he gets it, he’ll never let go.”
