I have the shivers. His voice sounds like it’s made of pure gold.
During the April 16th episode of Britain’s Got Talent, a young boy took the stage, showing no obvious signs of his remarkable vocal ability.
In the usual introduction with the judges, he provided his name, age, place of origin, and the motivation behind his passion.
He introduced himself with the words, “I’m Malakai, a 13-year-old singer from London.”
Simon Cowell, speaking on behalf of the panel, spoke to the boy, before Malakai Bayoh commenced his vocal performance.
And then the young boy, who had roots in Sierra Leone, stood before the microphone.
As the first notes of his chosen song played on the organ, he started singing “Pie Iesu” (which means Pious Jesus), a composition by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
When he was done, the whole crowd rose to their feet and started clapping like crazy.
A bunch of them were even crying.
Malakai Bayoh’s amazing high notes, the ones that got him to the finals of Britain’s Got Talent and made him a viral sensation, are now part of an album recorded with Universal Music.
“I can’t believe my dream has come true,” Malakai said, “And I’m signed to the record company with the biggest opera stars in the world!”
Universal has a history of signing some of the most prominent classical artists, including big names like Andrea Bocelli and the late Luciano Pavarotti.
At just 14 years old, Malakai has experienced an astonishing journey to stardom, going from a young chorister to becoming the beloved new classical voice of the nation.
Since his appearance on Britain’s Got Talent, he’s been flooded with global attention.
Even the President of Sierra Leone sent him a special message of congratulations.
Isn’t that just amazing?
Malakai’s fame has reached even Hollywood’s ears.
He’s lent his voice to the soundtrack of the upcoming Netflix movie “Maestro,” which is directed by and stars Bradley Cooper, and is produced by legendary Hollywood figures Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.
The album is called Golden and is “a collection of both classical and classic songs”, a nod to Simon Cowell’s reaction during Malakai’s initial BGT audition.
Cowell was so impressed that he hit the Golden Buzzer and exclaimed, “There’s only one word for it… GOLDEN!”
Malakai Bayoh has emerged as a shining new star in the realm of classical music.
Here’s his “Pie Iesu” once again.
How fitting for young Malakai to stand in a church and sing the same song that rocketed him to worldwide fame.
He’s special and everyone knows it.
“If Malakai ‘s voice doesn’t penetrate your soul there’s something wrong!! His voice is simply angelic. Such perfect control & a beautiful tone. He is exemplary & very, very special,” says a fan in the comments section.
“Pie Jesu” is a profoundly moving and ethereal piece of music.
It’s a song that showcases the purity and range of a singer’s voice, and it is perfect for Malakai.
What you are about to see and hear is truly golden.
