After entertaining people for almost 100 years, Nora Barton has finally gotten her chance to go big.
In one of the sweetest “Britain’s Got Talent” auditions we’ve ever seen, the 96-year-old took the stage with Pam Dimbleby, her daughter, to sing “When You Are In Love.” While Nora has Alzheimer’s disease, she hit each note with crystal clarity – and left the audience in awe!
In a video, we see Nora prove right away that she’s still sharp and spunky. She answers the judges’ questions with wit and leaves them beaming before she even sings a word.
“This is the act, I’m just accompanying,” Pam adds while gesturing to her mom. “She’s sung for people all her life, so at 96 this is a treat.”
As soon as they begin their performance, it becomes clear that Nora is the beautiful soprano the world needs right now! She’s utterly charming as she trills the familiar song and nails every high note with ease, and everyone is quick to give her a standing ovation.
“You are a very special lady because you’re full of light, full of laughter, full of joy, and you just entertained the nation at 96!” judge David Walliams says.
As for Amanda Holden, she exclaims, “It was a very special audition, Nora. Your generation, you know, is what this country is built on, so very well done, and thank you.”
Ever the prankster, Simon Cowell starts with, “I didn’t like it very much at all…” only to let her know that he actually loved it!
We’re so glad Nora is finally getting the recognition she deserves! We can’t wait to see what she sings in the next round.
