Born in Charlemagne, Canada, in 1968, Celine Dion is the most famous Canadian singer in the world. The Bee Gees, on the other hand, were a band formed in 1958, consisting of the three brothers Maurice, Robin, and Barry Gibb.

The trio was renowned for writing and composing their own music, and over the span of their career, they also wrote and produced songs for other well-known artists. Dion is among them. The Bee Gees wrote the acclaimed song Immortality specifically for her. When it was released as a single in 1998, it immediately became a top-ten single in Europe.

In the UK charts, it was instead classified as fifth. The Bee Gees initially faced some difficulties in composing the song. It was at that point that Barry and Maurice decided to take a short break from it before returning to the studio and eventually finishing the composition in just a few minutes. Immortality was later recorded for Celine Dion’s album Let’s Talk About Love, released in 1997, and the three brothers have been involved in the song as backing vocalists.

Immortality has been described as a power ballad in which the voices of Celine Dion and the Bee Gees complement each other and work together perfectly. Two videos were released for the release of the single. One shows the Canadian singer and the trio in the recording studio. In 1999, the video was included in the DVD Au Coeur du Stade, along with Dion’s performance at the Stade de France in Paris in June of the same year.

The year before, in August, the official video was released, showing the artists performing together. The video shows themes such as love, loss, and reincarnation. It opens with Celine Dion walking through a cemetery. She later walks as a ghost in a mansion, and with her, we see the Bee Gees appearing. Inside the house, Dion meets a man, who is supposedly her lover.

In 2017, Dion performed at the Bee Gees tribute concert ‘Stayin’ Alive: A Grammy Salute to the Music of the Bee Gees’ that was later aired by CBS, and for the event she performed Immortality.
