The tribute concert took place Wednesday night at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Waters, along with several other artists honored the O’Connor and MacGowan, both whom died last year.

Billy Bragg, David Gray, Amanda Palmer, Glen Hansard, Cat Power, Dropkick Murphys, and more were on hand to pay tribute to the two Irish musicians, and while it was a moving evening, no performance choked up the audience as much as Waters’ tribute.

In a fan-filmed video, Waters, 28, appears barefoot onstage in a flowing flowery dress. After encouraging the audience to sing with her, she performed an emotional rendition of her late mother’s popular hit “Nothing Compares 2 U”.

O’Connor died in July 2023 at age 56. According to the London Inner South Coroner’s Court, she died of natural causes.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad. Her family and friends are devastated and have requested privacy at this very difficult time,” her family said in a statement in July.

Roisin Waters’ tribute was absolutely beautiful. I couldn’t get through it without tears in my eyes.

Please share her emotional rendition of her late mother’s song.
