When Henri Herbert Sits Down At A Public Piano

Henri Herbert is a pianist who specilises in the Boogie Woogie genre of music. His piano playing talents have been captured on video during various public performances including train stations and airports.

Henri is a phenomenal pianist who draws a crowd every time he plays on a public piano. He was born in France but now lives in Austin, Texas where he performs every Tuesday at C-Boy’s Heart And Soul on South Congress. Henri has shows booked all of the world and is definitely one of the most respected boogie-woogie pianists of his generation.

Henri is heavily influenced by Jerry Lee Lewis, an American singer, musician, and rock ‘n’ roll pianist. Albert Ammons is another inspiration for Henri, Albert is known for his piano skills and playing of boogie-woogie in a bluesy jazz style.

After spending many years practicing and studying different music styles, he has taken the style of the two musicians above and merged them to create something quite unique. He calls his style “Supercharged Boogie Woogie”.

Like all great musicians and performers, Henri spent his younger years learning his trade in the local pubs and clubs. He entertained the locals, kept honing his craft, and playing boogie-woogie all over Europe before he was invited to join Jim Jones Revue in 2011.

“The Jim Jones Revue were an English garage rock and roll band composed of Jim Jones, Rupert Orton, Henri Herbert, Gavin Jay and Nick Jones.”

Henri co-wrote the music and recorded with the band on the studio album “The Savage Heart”. After touring with the band professionally for several years the band decided to go their separate ways in 2014.

Henri took this opportunity to focus on his solo career and opened his own YouTube channel towards the end of 2013 where he began uploading videos of his performances. He recorded himself playing in public places such as train stations and airports, using the public pianos on offer. Since opening his YouTube channel he has received over 46 million views across all of his videos.
