Ed Sheeran left a superfan in tears after showing up at her home for a surprise performance on Tuesday.
The singer, 32, shared the heart-warming clip to his Instagram as he revealed that he had recorded a live version of his upcoming album Autumn Variations by surprising fans and performing in their houses.
The Shivers hitmaker said that each song was recorded in a ‘different fan’s living room’ and added that all of them were a ‘total surprise’.
The clip showed him performing one of his older tracks in a fan’s home, sitting by a piano in her room and breaking into a rendition of ‘Wake Me Up’ – taken from his 2011 album ‘+’.
The fan could be seen singing along to Ed, before breaking down in tears whilst watching him.

Captioning the post, Ed announced: ‘So I did some surprise pop up gigs in fans houses, secretly recording a live album of Autumn Variations where each song is recorded in a different fans living room, but all of it was a total surprise.
‘We got to @kariconaway ‘s house at the end of the day, and I instantly knew it was gonna be a fun one.
‘They had cats, friendship bracelets and some fruit drinks to start, but once I’d played the Autumn song I said take me on a tour, and when I went into her room I saw a piano.
‘She asked if I could play and I said ‘not really but I kinda play on wake me up’, so here I am playing Wake Me Up, for all the Plus fans out there.

Sheeran first teased these surprise visits to fans’ homes earlier this month by taking to his TikTok page.

Never one to shy away from a promotional opportunity, the canny singer serenaded the bemused bride and groom with the opening track from his seventh studio LP, Autumn Variations.
And, much like his other recent surprise appearance at a LEGO store in Minnesota, he used it wisely by promoting his new music – much to the bride and groom’s delight.
Armed with an acoustic guitar, the singer-songwriter made an unexpected appearance at the legendary Little White Chapel in Las Vegas – where the young couple were in the process of exchanging vows.
The British star was accompanied by four backing vocalists as they made their way into the small church, famous for its Elvis Presley themed weddings and drive-thru tunnel of love.
In front of a visibly startled bride and groom, Sheeran and his singers launched into an acoustic rendition of new song Magical.

Autumn Variations is due to be released on September 29 and will be Ed’s first album released by his own record label, Gingerbread Man Records.
In addition, this will also be the first time the singer hasn’t featured any collaborations on an album and is only the second time the title does not contain a mathematical symbol.
Last month, Ed updated his Instagram profile picture to the album cover art and shared a video to his feed which explained what the album will be about, he said: ‘The sun is shining but Autumn is coming.
‘I find that Autumn is a season with a lot of change.’
He continued, ‘Coming out of Summer, people are getting out of relationships, getting into relationships, being very lonely.
‘I just found my friends and me were going through sort of different things in Autumn.’
The musician then explained in Autumn 2022 everything appeared to either be calm and settled or fell apart and imploded for all his friends.

He said: ‘When I went through a difficult time at the start of last year, writing songs helped me understand my feelings and come to terms with what was going on.
‘When I learned about my friend’s different situations, I wrote songs, some from their perspectives, some from mine, to capture how they and I viewed the world at that time.’
The album will feature 14 songs and focus on a range of emotions including heartbreak, depression, loneliness and confusion.
Song names include Magical, England, Amazing, Plastic Bag and Blue.
