THE Masked Singer fans were left shocked this evening as Maypole was revealed as Melody Thornton.

The Pussycat Dolls star went undetected for weeks as viewers struggled to pin-point the celeb.

The panel speculated about other members of the Pussycat Dolls but failed to mention Melody. Other guesses thrown in the mix were Zara Larson and Janelle Monáe.

For a while, many viewers, including Judge Mo Gilligan, thought Rita Ora was the one behind the mask.

In an episode where Rita was absent and Maypole performed, Mo said: “Why is she not here, because she’s here?”

One fan previously agreed on X/Twitter and wrote: “Absolutely convinced Maypole is Rita Ora.”

Once the reveal was made, Rita said: “Now hearing your voice and tone of course it’s you.”

Melody replied: “It’s been fun! Maypole is such a sweetheart.”

Some fans had earlier speculated that it was Melody; one of them said on social media: “I say Maypole is Melody Thornton she was on Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls and she’s performed in The Bodyguard in all the cities mentioned.”

A second posted: “I know you all think Maypole is Jessie J but I hear Melody Thornton and most of the clues fit with what I know about her.”

“Maypole is Melody Thornton 100%,” a third viewer simply said.

While a fourth commented: “Melody Thornton from Pussycat Dolls had a song called Love Will Return…”

Dippy Egg was also unmasked with Nicky Campbell behind the costume.

Nicky has worked as a TV and radio presenter for more than three decades.

Davina McCall was surprised since, despite being good friends with him, she hadn’t figured out it was him. The two had also appeared together on Long Lost Family.
