Michael Bublé and Thalía had big time chemistry going on in their duet “Mis Deseos/Feliz Navidad”. Bublé showed off his Spanish skills in the energetic duet with the Mexican starlet on Live From NBC New York. The song mixes a Bublé original song, “Mis Deseos”, with the Spanish language Christmas classic “Feliz Navidad”.

Bublé opened the segment by speaking in schoolboy Spanish, which had Thalía melting and calling him sexy and cute. The trad pop star then launched into the first verse in Spanish, showing that he was actually a dab hand at the language. The pair then sang together over the Latin pop tune with traditional Spanish instrumentation, as they hugged and looked into each others’ eyes. The live cut of “Mis Deseos/Feliz Navidad” is a fan favourite on Thalía’s channel and attracted 16.8 million views.

The performance had a campfire sing-along vibe as the audience clapped and sang along, with Thalía bringing her mic to the audience for them to join in. The crowd sang the refrain ‘feliz Navidad’, which is a traditional Spanish holiday greeting that means ‘merry Christmas’. The song “Feliz Navidad” was released in 1970 by Puerto Rican singer-songwriter José Feliciano, and has since become a Christmas favourite, so the crowd understood the assignment.

Fans flocked to the duet in time for Christmas, adding warm comments such as “I absolutely love this! I put it on repeat, I don’t know how many times!” and “This touched my heart, what amazing chemistry. Thalía and Michael Bublé are the best!” Bublé specializes in high profile Christmas duets it seems, as he also did a gorgeous rendition of “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town” with the one and only Ariana Grande.

The duet with Thalía on “Mis Deseos/Feliz Navidad” was featured on Bublé’s first Christmas album, which he quite imaginatively named uh… Christmas. Bublé showed he’s not just a pretty face by co-writing “Mis Deseos” with producers Claudia Brant and Humberto Gatica, while José Feliciano was also credited for the “Feliz Navidad” part of the track.

The album featured two other high profile duets, which were “Jingle Bells” with The Puppini Sisters and “White Christmas” with Shania Twain, which were released as the third and fourth promotional singles respectively. Both of these duets have continued to be popular with Bublé fans, and are currently in his top 10 most played Spotify songs as things ramp up for Christmas.

Christmas, which is Bublé’s seventh studio album, has become his most successful release. The album went to number one in the USA and UK, along with a host of other countries, and went on to sell more than 16 million copies. This made the release one of the best selling Christmas albums of all time and also one of the best selling albums of any genre since the turn of the century.
