“Hallelujah” is a composition penned by Leonard Cohen, a Canadian vocalist, and was initially included in his album “Various Positions” (1984).

Despite its modest beginnings, the song gained widespread recognition after a fresh rendition was performed by John Cale in 1991.

Over the years, “Hallelujah” has been covered by numerous artists from different genres, and it has been featured in various movies, TV shows, and commercials.

The song’s lyrics and melodies have resonated with audiences worldwide, making it a timeless and enduring piece of music.

Even the really young singers are having a go at Cohen’s composition.

Just like the very talented singer, Emma Kok.

Born on September 18, 2006, in the picturesque Dutch city of Utrecht, Emma Kok possesses a name that resonates with a harmonious musical quality.

Her ability to speak well and communicate with others has contributed to the cultivation of a distinct and captivating vocal timbre.

Emma has a voice unlike any other.

Wait until you hear her sing.

One August day, during the Max Maakt Possible television broadcast, “Hallelujah,” was beautifully sung by Emma in collaboration with the Mastreechter Staar.

This rendition of the song showcased Emma Kok’s vocal talents alongside the accompaniment of the Mastreechter Staar choir, making for a memorable performance on that particular occasion.

It’s a song praised for its deep and introspective lyrics, which explore complex themes while maintaining a sense of universality.

The word “Hallelujah” itself is an exclamation of praise or joy, and Cohen’s song uses it as a central motif to convey a range of emotions and experiences.

And Emma singing the song takes on a whole new meaning.

She has gastroparesis.

Gastroparesis is a medical condition where the stomach muscles don’t contract properly, causing delayed emptying of food into the small intestine.

It’s often linked to nerve damage, with diabetes and certain medications being common causes.

Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, bloating, and poor appetite.

Diagnosis involves tests like gastric emptying studies, and treatment may involve dietary changes, medications, and medical devices.

Emma is only a teenager, so imagine that.

And yet that doesn’t stop her from singing for crowds and performing with different groups.

This same teenager, so brave and strong, sings Cohen’s work with much older gentlemen, and it is a fine performance.

Because of the impact of gastroparesis, she can only eat very small portions of food, leading to limitations in her diet.

Throughout her life, Emma has faced achievements as well as challenges, yet she persisted with an unyielding attitude.

She sings like there’s no tomorrow, her impressive vocal range leading her backup singers, as they belt out “Hallelujah”.

Emma chooses to face the world head on despite her condition, and she will do so through the power of music.

Brave young lady, and if you’d like to see more of Emma, she’s got a big following on social media so go check her out.
