Paul Simon wrote “Bridge Over Troubled Water” in 1969, but it was Art Garfunkel that would sing the song. Art Garfunkel explained his emotions while singing the song,

“I’ve sung it 6,400 times and every time, I get a little visitation of the power of a great song. To say: ‘Whoever you are, if you need some solace, I will try to be a moment of sweetness for you,’ this kills me. To be the lucky one to express that, it moves me every damned time.”

The song has moved many artists since its debut. Over fifty artists have created a cover of the moving song, including musical legends Willie Nelson, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Aretha Franklin and Il Divo. When a song can touch someone so deeply it would be an honor to be able to create their own versions.

Il Divo’s voices are very poignant and beautifully show how emotional the song really is.

Unlike Simon and Garfunkel, Il Divo lets every member sing a portion of the song. The song is at its most beautiful when all found members harmonize. Their voices complement each other so easily, it was like they were always meant to sing together.

When you listen to the orchestra move the song along with their voices, it can give a person goosebumps.

The last notes of the song is where Il Divo members really show the strength of their voices. They do not slowly fade out near the end, they explode.
