Laine Hardy and Laci Kaye Booth are no doubt favorites of this season. Each not only has an incredible musical talent, but they both have that certain “it” factor that entices the judges and charms the audience.
They are also both known for their incredibly wide range of performing ability and versatile abilities to take on and master nearly any song or musical genre. Each performer has blown the judges away with a variety of covers that span throughout multiple styles of music throughout the years.
This past Sunday they put on a performance that not only managed to blow the judges and the viewers out of the water, but it may also just be one of the most adorable duet treasures the show has seen in its many years of running.
When these two superstars teamed up, everyone knew they must be performing something really special. What could be more special than putting on a cover performance of the legendary “Jackson” by none other than Johnny Cash and his beloved June Carter Cash?
Laine Hardy and Kaci Kaye Booth even donned outfits of Johnny and June to solidify the impact of their impressive performance. The performance wasn’t simply a tribute to the song, but it also paid homage to the love story of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash.
The couple passed away in 2003, just four months apart from each other. Johnny fell for June Carter while the two were touring together. However, it took June a deal of time before she fell for Johnny Cash. The couple recorded “Jackson” in 1967 and they married the following year.
“Jackson” once again captured the hearts of people everywhere with its inclusion in the 2005 release of the film “Walk the Line” starring Reese Witherspoon as June and Joaquin Phoenix as Johnny.
